A NinjaTrader workspace is a snapshot of your entire chart-and-strategy setup. It captures:
If something goes wrong — NinjaTrader crashes, the VPS restarts, you accidentally close a window — reloading a saved workspace puts everything back exactly the way you left it.
CRITICAL: Do not close the NinjaTrader chart window without saving your workspace first. Closing the chart window can lose tabs, strategy attachments, and account selections you've configured. The chart window is the one window you should keep open at all times during the trading day.
Before you save the workspace and walk away, run through this short verification on each strategy tab:
| Check | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Correct instrument | Front-month contract (e.g., MNQ June 26), not an expired one. |
| Correct timeframe | Matches what the Settings Spreadsheet specifies for the strategy (most are 15-min). |
| Correct risk settings | Cross-checked against the Settings Spreadsheet for that specific strategy. |
| Correct trading account | Right-click the strategy → Edit Strategy → confirm the Account field. Especially important when running across multiple prop firm accounts. |
To open a strategy's settings: Control Center → right-click the strategy → Edit Strategy. Inside the configuration window, scroll to the Setup section to find the Account selector.
If you're on the workspace template the team set up for you (typically named something like VectorAlgo), Save Workspace is what you want — it just writes your current state back to the same workspace.
If you want a separate, named version (e.g., for testing a different layout), use Save Workspace As… and give it a clear name like Vector_test_v2.
If you ever:
…you can simply reopen NinjaTrader and load the saved workspace from Workspaces. All your chart tabs, strategies, accounts, and configurations come back exactly as they were saved.
If you're unsure whether your workspace is saved correctly — or want our team to verify the setup before market open — open a support ticket and we'll review it on your VPS directly.
