Is it safe to share my VPS and NinjaTrader credentials with the Vector team?

Yes — and in most cases it's a necessary part of setup and ongoing support. Here's what that looks like and why it's safe.

Why the team needs access

During onboarding, the Vector team needs access to your VPS and NinjaTrader to install your strategies, configure data feeds, connect your broker accounts, and apply the appropriate settings. Later on, similar access may be needed for maintenance, strategy updates, or troubleshooting specific issues.

This access is standard — there isn't a practical way to configure a NinjaTrader installation on a remote VPS without logging into it.

What about security?

A few points that address the common concern:

• Your brokerage account has separate credentials from your VPS and NinjaTrader — those aren't exposed through NT access.
• Funds can't be withdrawn through NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader is a trading platform; withdrawals happen at the broker or prop firm level, which requires separate authentication the team doesn't have.
• You can monitor activity on your VPS at any time by logging in yourself through your VPS provider's dashboard (QuantVPS, V2 Cloud) or via Remote Desktop.
• If you prefer, you can change your VPS password after a setup or maintenance session is complete.

If you change your VPS password often

Some clients rotate their VPS password regularly for their own security preference. That's completely fine — but keep in mind that if the team needs to troubleshoot or perform maintenance after you've changed the password, you'll need to share the new password each time. The team can't access the VPS with outdated credentials, so frequent password changes mean frequent credential updates on your side. Plan for that if you adopt a rotating-password routine.
