Required TraderPost Settings: Disable “Cancel Existing Orders” and “Allow Signal Override”

Category: Stock Trading | Last Updated: May 2026

ACTION REQUIRED: If you run Vector strategies through TraderPost, you must review and update two specific settings in each of your active strategies. If left enabled, these settings can interfere with how your strategies manage trades and may result in unintended order cancellations or gaps in risk protection.

What This Guide Covers

This article walks you through two TraderPost Open Orders settings that must be turned OFF for every Vector strategy connected to your account, explains why they matter, and gives the exact steps to fix them.

The Two Settings to Disable

In your TraderPost account, each strategy has a section called Open Orders. Inside that section, the following two settings must be turned OFF for every active strategy:

Setting 1: Cancel existing open orders before placing new orders

When enabled, this option cancels any active orders — including stop-losses and take-profits — every time a new trade signal comes in. That means your risk-protection orders can be wiped out unexpectedly.

Setting 2: Allow signal override

When enabled, this option allows a new incoming signal to override or replace existing trade instructions. While active, it can disrupt how the strategy manages a trade that is already in progress.

Both settings exist twice per strategy — once for entry orders and once for exit orders. Make sure both instances are unchecked.

Why This Matters

When either of these settings is left ON, it can lead to:

  • Risk protection removed: Stop-loss or take-profit orders cancelled without warning
  • Unintended exits: Positions closed or modified at the wrong time
  • Strategy logic disrupted: New signals interfering with trades already underway
  • Open positions unprotected: Positions left exposed without intended safeguards

NOTE: Issues of this type were recently observed with the Palantir strategy. Disabling these settings is a key step in preventing similar execution problems going forward.

How to Fix It

Follow these steps for each of your active strategies in TraderPost:

  1. Log in to TraderPost and navigate to the strategy you want to update.
  2. Open the strategy’s Open Orders settings section.
  3. Confirm that Cancel existing open orders before placing new orders is unchecked / disabled.
  4. Confirm that both instances of Allow signal override (one for entry orders, one for exit orders) are unchecked / disabled.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Repeat for every active strategy on your account.
  7. Confirm with our team once complete.

What Happens After These Settings Are Disabled

With these two settings turned OFF, each strategy will manage its trades according to its own programmed logic:

  • Active stop-loss and take-profit orders are preserved instead of being cancelled by incoming signals.
  • New signals will no longer be able to interfere with trades that are already in progress.
  • Each strategy operates under the conditions it was designed for.

If you need help locating these settings or have any questions about the update, contact our support team. Please confirm once all of your active strategies have been reviewed and updated.
